I want to wish everyone that visits my site and are brave enough to read my batty blogs a Merry Christmas. I’d also like to share with you some funny alternative songs for little ones and some of my Christmas mice pictures too?
Apart from the cheery We Wish You A Merry Christmas and the traditional Jingle Bells that always go down well with small children I have come across some others that are a great addition and have tried them out too with my toddler story time group. With the addition of instruments we all made a wonderful din! My favourite has to be the Christmas Pudding song, which is sung using the melody for Frère Jacques. And so here it is:
Christmas Pudding, Christmas Pudding,
Steaming hot, steaming hot,
Sprinkle on the sugar, sprinkle on the sugar,
Eat the lot, eat the lot!
Another infamous character that always features largely in any Baby Bounce and Rhyme sessions must be Incy Wincy Spider, but I bet very few people have heard this version, which I love. I think the use of the word ‘snuck’ indicates that this one was created in America:
Incy Wincy spider climbed up the Christmas tree,
Swinging on the tinsel to see what he could see,
Down came the fairy to grant a little wish,
And Incy Wincy spider snuck a little kiss!
I am interested in seeking out any more Christmas songs for small children and so if anyone out there knows any more, please tweet me here.
