Body in the library
Body in the library is one of Agatha Christie’s wonderful crime novels. It is one I have illustrated for The Agatha Christie Book Collection, which is a weekly magazine series, published by Hachete.
My job is to illustrate the suspects for Body in the library in a crime photo line-up format. As this can be quite limiting you have to try and add interesting backdrops to the figures, and make the characters interact a little, if they have a relationship within the story. There are always a few red herrings in each of her stories, which can be fun to illustrate. You get the opportunity to make certain characters look highly suspicious, through body language, facial expressions – even the colours I choose for their clothing.
I have now completed quite a few, in fact I’ve worked on sixteen issues! The series seems to be selling well and as Agatha Christie had over seventy crime novels published I think that there is probably a few more to go yet! I am not the only artist working on the issues, there are four of us in total, which keeps each issue looking fresh for the reader.
Today I am going to share with you some of the suspects from this creepy novel by Christie! To read more news and maybe try your hand at some of my drawing tutorials, go to my blogspot page!
