Monsters in colour

Continuing with the creepy theme of yesterday, I thought I would share some artwork of monsters in colour today!

Monsters in colour: Today I have some sketches and the finished artwork of two Goblins just about to feast on a cute and rather shocked caterpillar!

In this picture I was trying to recreate the soft effect I had acheived working in graphite pencil and so I used some soft aqua colouring pencils. Aqua colouring pencils are great to use, because you can add water and create watercolour effects. Using this method, I applied water to the coloured pencil to get a slight smudged effect on the Goblins ears, which works really well. It is something that I would like to use in a commission one day! Maybe in the future I will do another video, showing everyone how to achieve this effect and so watch this space!

This artwork was not for a commission and was just a sample piece that I wanted to do in colour for my portfolio, to add to my website and maybe show potential clients.

If you would like to see similar artwork, click on my ‘subject’ button in the menu at the top  and then select ‘fantasy’. For more posts you could try visiting my blogspot page right here!
