Aliens stardust
You are probably thinking why Aliens stardust? Well I just thought I would share with you today the jacket illustration I created for one of three picture books I have written. All three are currently being considered by a publisher.
Aliens stardust: Rather than just show you the artwork in total, I thought I’d shake it up a bit and show you an edited version that I played with using an ‘app’ on my iPad. It is a great ‘app’ that has some wonderful effects pre-loaded that you can play with to get some interesting results. I had great fun with borders and weird colours and lighting effects. The original has been painted using watercolours. I then dipped a toothbrush in ink and ‘flicked’ it across the artwork. That was great fun and really quite effective in creating tiny stars and the cosmos – although a little unpredictable, but that was part of the fun. Obviously I used paper to block areas of the artwork that I didn’t want covered in splatters!
This artwork is an odd shape because I am actually using as my main image on my Facebook page and my agent’s Facebook page too! If you want to see more of my artwork, please visit The Illustrators Agency.
