Halloween
Halloween 2020 is extra spooky…
Halloween is much needed this year, so put on your witches hats, dust down your white sheets and don’t forget your grisly pumpkins! No one can avoid the gloomy, Covid19 news at the moment and like a true Halloween spectre, it hangs over us all. So, I really don’t blame anyone for wanting to find something positive to hang onto, to celebrate that little bit more when any annual festivity comes round. I plan to do a Diwali post (with illustrations, of course), Christmas New Year but right now it’s Halloween. I have therefore spent a couple of spare days creating some little illustrations just for Halloween 2020! All will be posted on my Facebook page, @lynstoneillustrates.
Creepy Cat Pumpkin
I have created a Creepy Cat Pumpkin, a Guinea Pig Witch flying on a broomstick and a ghoulish Pumpkin head – oh, and an acrobatic guinea pig too. And, of course, squirrels wearing bat wings. If I had more time I’m sure I could have created some more potty pumpkin illustrations. But I do have to work and oddly enough am currently illustrating squirrels for a client.
All the illustrations have been hand-drawn and digitally coloured with some collage elements too. In order to create the stars for the creepy cat pumpkin illustration I used this wonderfully sparkly, black glitter paper. This was scanned in and then digitally coloured, so that it is a nice bluish, inky black.
Digital versus and hand-created
Although I have used quite a lot of digital painting for these pictures, I am not keen on fully digital images, although there are some illustrators out there that create the most amazing, fully digital images and you’d never know! They are spectacular. However, I can’t help myself and have to scribble a bit. So, these are all partly scribbled, nibbled and digitally diddled!
