My day of hell
Some days, I reckon it really would be better to stay in bed. Take the other day for example, it started badly and got worse. Like Old Mother Hubbard, I found that my cupboards (and fridge) were bare, so set out for the shops. All well and good, except that I locked myself out! As soon as I closed the front door, I immediately realised that I’d left the spare key in the lock on the inside. Consequently I could neither open or lock the door! I tried everything I could think of to push the key out, but it stubbornly stayed put. Even the double glazing company that put the door in, apologised profusely but said “it was a job for a locksmith.”
I was not happy. A locksmith was duly summoned, and he turned up accompanied by a small dog. Was he going to send the dog through a window or down the chimney to retrieve the key? No, the little pooch was just there for company. It was small and cute, but surprisingly vicious, as it took a bite out of my hand. Perhaps it had aspirations to be a guard dog, or perhaps it was a Rottweiler disguised as a Chihuahua.
Anyway, locksmith (and hound) got me back indoors but made a not inconsiderable dent in my bank balance. Next I get a call from my parents. They’d got something wrong with their telephone line and could I come around and sort it out? Well, when I got there I discovered a very dysfunctional computer instead and it took me a couple of hours to fix it! I realised I just had enough time to zoom out again and get some paint I wanted for the bedroom. I schlepped all the way there by public transport only to find they were out of stock. By this stage I was spitting feathers. What can I say, but my day of hell! Thankfully I could console myself with some work on the ‘My Dog Rags’ project. Drawing always makes me feel better. Almost always! Everyone should try it.
