New sketches
Today I have been working on some new sketches for my Gizmo and Scatz series. Gizmo is a dog and Scatz a cat.
You can see from the new sketches below how the image is evolving and may change further before I go to ink and colour. It is interesting to see a sketch develop and hopefully improve into a more entertaining and illustrative image.
The final artwork will be created using nib pen and ink, and coloured using watercolours. I may try a digital version at some stage too, to see what difference it makes, if any.
In this sketch you can see the cat needs more work, the pose is not quite working yet. Also the dog does not resemble closely enough the Gizmo I have drawn and painted in a recent illustration, and needs much more development.
In this sketch I have made the cats pose more fun (well I hope so anyway), and I have added elements to the dog too. Mainly I made changes to the dog’s facial features, but I have also lengthened the body just a little bit. He also now has a cuter, more puppy-like face. Twitter
