Reading Hero apply here! It’s time for the Mini Winter Challenge! I like to support children’s reading schemes whenever I can. It’s run by the Summer Reading Challenge and encourages children’s readership over the winter. It’s just as fun as the Summer Reading Challenge, it’s just mini!
Sounds great! How does my child take part?
It is all online and so it’s a simple task of going to the Summer Reading Challenge website (click here). But read on first!
Taking part in the Winter Mini Challenge is simple: all you have to do is read at least three books between Tuesday 1 December 2020 and Friday 15 January 2021. Once you’ve read a book, you can add it to the your website profile and tell everyone about it. It’s very easy to set up the profile in the first place, you won’t have any problems there. There’s a brand new certificate for your bedroom wall AND a limited edition virtual badge for every Reading Hero who completes in the Mini Challenge. Yes, you heard correctly you will be a Reading Hero! With all the wonderful, magical story books and fabulous, fact books out there, what a wonderful challenge.

I have included one or two of my illustrations in this post but of course any posters relating to the mini challenge I am not responsible for, but thought it useful to show them within this post, so that your children can recognise it online and therefore easily find the website to take part. So, I hope the Reading challenge organisation won’t mind my including the images! I can’t imagine that they would. Also included within this post is the little booklet/poster that you get with this challenge where children can put all the information about the books they have read and so keep a record. Children absolutely love taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge and so this is just a mini version and very worthwhile taking part in.
